InterForm Output to Zebra |

SpaceTec, the UK supplier
of InterForm400 and a registered Zebra Technologies
Business Associate (ZBA) are pleased to announce
current R&D developments for Zebra label printing
to its InterForm400 printing application for the
IBM System i and AS/400 platforms.
Currently under “Alpha” development
with the authors of InterForm 400, is the ability
to output to the “R” series Zebra label
printers which can encode RFID tags within the standard
label. RFID stands for Radio Frequency IDentification
which means there is silicone memory within the
label that can be written to thus changing the information
stored within the microchip.
How important is this? Well a recent IBM user group
publication has stated that “at least 500
to 1000 big IBM blue suits are backing the development
of RFID”. It will be deployed in manufacturing
worldwide. RFID is already being demanded by the
Wallmart group worldwide for full use in 2006. Marks
and Spencer, Tesco’s, Metro (Germany) and
many other major retailers throughout Europe are
currently specifying that suppliers must use RFID
technology.
